Journal, a new journaling application from Apple, asks users to write entries based on information enabled by the user. Journal users can turn off the “Prefer suggestions with others” and “Let others discover them” option in their privacy and security settings, in the Tips for keeping a diary section. Basically, if you have this feature enabled and you attend an event, for example, a concert attended by many other people with iPhones, you may later receive a message in your diary to write an entry about the concert in your diary. But it's very easy not to use the Journal app or block it so that only you can access it with Face ID, Touch ID or your code of access.
People using the Journal app, which is available for free on devices with iOS 17.2 or later, can start by adding a text entry to the journal and decide what other information, such as location or photos, they want to add.
