Is the journal app private?

It allows users to store private information that can also be hidden from parents. Journal was created with privacy as its core element. When the iPhone is locked with a password, entries in the Journal application are encrypted. In addition, users can choose to enable secondary authentication and lock the Journal app with their device's passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.

All Journal entries are end-to-end encrypted when stored in iCloud, so that only the user can access them. Tips for keeping a diary are created on the device and users can choose which suggested moments are shared with the Journal application and added to journal entries. With the new Journaling Tips API, third-party journaling apps can also suggest moments that users can write about. Add reminders and the ability to search your diary entries, and keeping a digital diary is almost a no-brainer.
